Shelving Books with Students' Names

Use this library lesson to teach students how books are shelved in the library. First, have each student tell you the first three letters of his/her last name. Double-click on the spine label of a book to type in the child's three letters beneath the "E." Next, highlight both the spine label and the book spine and do CTRL-G or select "Group" from the pull-down menu. This will allow the children to easily move the books onto the shelf at the top of the page.
